Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the boiling water.
  3. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and curl into a "C" shape. Be careful not to overcook; shrimp can become tough if boiled too long.
  4. Once cooked, immediately remove the shrimp from the boiling water and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to cool rapidly. This helps stop the cooking process and keeps the shrimp firm and tender.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, prepared horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Adjust the horseradish and hot sauce to your preferred level of spiciness. Stir well to combine.
  6. Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the seasonings if needed. You can add more lemon juice or hot sauce to suit your taste.
  7. Drain the shrimp from the ice water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  8. You can refrigerate the shrimp for a little while to ensure they are nicely chilled before serving. Keep them covered to prevent drying.
  9. Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter or individual cocktail glasses.
  10. Place a small bowl of the cocktail sauce in the center or provide individual servings for dipping.
  11. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh parsley if desired.

Enjoy!
