The primary export commodities include:
• Shrimp: USD 1.36 billion
• Tuna, Skipjack, and Mackerel: USD 0.86 billion
• Squid, Cuttlefish, and Octopus: USD 0.68 billion
• Crab and Blue Swimming Crab: USD 0.43 billion
• Seaweed: USD 0.29 billion
Additionally, Indonesia's ornamental fish exports reached USD 39.06 million as of October 2024, placing Indonesia as the second-largest exporter of ornamental fish globally.
The KKP continues to expand international market access through participation in global-scale exhibitions such as the Seafood Expo North America in Boston, Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, and the Nusatic Ornamental Fish Exhibition at ICE BSD.
Government Policies and Targets for 2025
The KKP has outlined several targets and policies to enhance the fisheries sector in 2025:
1. Fisheries Production: Targeting production of 24.58 million tons.
2. Fishermen's Exchange Rate (NTN): Expected to range between 105-108.
3. Fisheries GDP Growth: Aiming for growth between 4-6%.
4. Fishery Export Value: Targeting USD 6.25 billion in exports.
5. Salt Production: Setting a target of 2.25 million tons.
Key Policies for Sustainable Development
To achieve these goals, the KKP will implement the blue economy program, which includes five main policies:
1. Expansion of Marine Conservation Areas: Increasing the size of conservation areas to maintain marine ecosystem sustainability.
2. Measured Quota-Based Fishing: Implementing a quota-based fishing system to prevent overfishing.
3. Development of Sustainable Aquaculture: Expanding aquaculture in marine, coastal, and inland areas sustainably.
4. Monitoring and Control of Coastal and Small Islands: Enhancing surveillance to prevent environmental damage and ensure sustainable resource utilization.
5. Cleaning Marine Plastic Waste via the "Love the Ocean Month" Campaign: Engaging fishermen to help clean plastic waste from the ocean.
Budget Allocation for 2025
With a budget allocation of IDR 6.22 trillion (approximately USD 410 million), the KKP is committed to improving fishermen's welfare and ensuring the sustainability of Indonesia's marine resources through the implementation of these programs.
